We could be the (one of the) system integrator(s). We are used to work with SME's, other companies, NGO's, universities to create and implement innovative concepts. We believe that realizing your ambitions can only be realized by working together. GDF SUEZ works together with different European cities to become more sustainable. Bordeaux and Barcelona are already Cities of Tomorrow. Together we want to create a city that is ready for the future where citizens want to live, work, study, … where companies like to invest, innovate, create jobs, etc. ===== Opportunities for collaboration===== We believe in working together. Some examples of possible partners: - Citizens - Government/Municipality - Local SME’s - Large companies - GDF SUEZ laboratories - Universities and schools - NGO’s - … ===== Description of idea===== <WRAP box right minwidth:33%> <userpoll Rating> + ****** + **** + ** </userpoll> <WRAP centeralign> Please rate this idea! \\ Click on **Vote and view** to see the results. </WRAP> </WRAP> Our idea at GDF Suez is to fill in the picture “from idea to ambition” – as shown in your presentation – but we would call it “from ambition to idea”, as we think one should work backwards in order to keep the objective in mind. Ideas should support the ambition. “What does Eindhoven want to be for its inhabitants in 2045 and later on?” The most important is to have commitment and a crystal clear idea of the sustainable end situation. For this purpose we have a powerful proposition called Cities of Tomorrow (CoT), which we successfully use in collaboration with the city of Barcelona. This tool gives a clear and simple view on how to reach the ambitious goals for Energy, Water, Waste, and Mobility for Eindhoven in the future. The power of the Group and her subsidiaries ensures this ambition can be easily translated to makeable ideas and realistic output as soon as today. With our vision and tools, we can easily translate this framework to the Eindhoven situation. We have a way of formulating the vision (CoT), the knowledge how to get there (Barcelona dashboard e.g.) and we have the resources (i. e., people and knowledge) to make creative ideas in order to close the gaps. The vision is based on the Cities of Tomorrow- principles. Using this vision, that describes four types of the cities of the future, we create the roadmap for Eindhoven together with the Municipality. Only after this formulation, we translate these principles into a structural plan, working backwards and starting there and then. All (future) projects should be mirrored / reflected against this common vision. A dashboard, as developed in Barcelona, helps all parties to stay on track and easily see the impact of their actions. The path towards sustainability is not fixed in concrete and should never be travelled alone. GDF Suez wants to be main partner and guide for the Municipality towards higher ambitions, and involve the local SME’s and NGO’s. Working together as a team with one goal in mind, Being flexible but firm and dedicated to the higher goals: let’s make a difference through sustainability. According to the principles of CoT, technique or the “hard” sides of the projects are not the only noteworthy output. Maybe more importantly, the CoT-philosophy is based on creating a livable city with beautiful places, clean air and spaces, safety and security for the inhabitants, easy public urban transport, security of water and energy and job employment. Only then will a city be called beautiful. We are convinced that the CoT-approach can and will fulfill the ambitions of the city of Eindhoven to formulate an ambitious but realistic goal for 2045, and simultaneously enables the process of starting today with real projects, like the Town Hall and Tower. Only an integrated plan with a professional guidance ensures the creation of ideas . Cities of Tomorrow is the idea GDF Suez proposes for the city of Eindhoven, for now and towards 2045.
