In our approach we always seeks to the connection with the mission, vision and ambitions of the municipality of Eindhoven. We continuously inspire and seduce partners in the project to go beyond the traditional approach of ‘problem solving’ and minimizing negative impacts. By providing input to documents and plans we integrate the principles of sustainable innovation as an integral part of the entire plan. C2C ExpoLAB has a wealth of experience in taking the principles of sustainable innovation into practice. We are, therefore, in a position to offer unparalleled support to organizations ensuring the principles of sustainable innovation are effectively maximized from start to finish. ===== Opportunities for collaboration===== In this project we see a great opportunity to challenge the market to come up with innovative, sustainable solutions. Not only partners in the project will be inspired and seduced to start innovation according The Natural Step, but also (local) companies and organizations are encouraged to start innovating. By doing so, the municipality can really show that Eindhoven is really the most innovative and smartest city in the world! ===== Description of idea===== <WRAP box right minwidth:33%> <userpoll Rating> + ****** + **** + ** </userpoll> <WRAP centeralign> Please rate this idea! \\ Click on **Vote and view** to see the results. </WRAP> </WRAP> Quality can be defined in a process of analysis and goal setting. This will bring you in the position to apply and measure quality with a set of well defined criteria and (regular) measurements for further quality improvement. Continuous improvement is a basic foundation of our approach, which results in an iterative design process. Eco-effective sustainability is an innovation platform for holistic quality. In accordance with the mission, vision or ambition of your organization, it is important to define your measurable goals the project will focus on. Measurable goals have to contribute to your organizations’ mission and vision. Clear stated goals will motivate and help your project team to keep focus during the process. A goal has a quantifiable endpoint, measurable based on the principles of sustainable innovation and The Natural Step within a given period of time. A goal can be expressed in more desired results. When is this project a success? By focusing on desired results, you will provide yourself criteria for the decision-making process. The clearer and more specific the desired results are formulated, the easier it will be to achieve them. Subsequently, the defined goals and desired results can be translated into measurable units. A measurable unit is a performance indicator of the concerned desired result related to sustainable innovation. The idea is to create your projects roadmap! A point in the future where the project wants to be within a given period of time. In this phase your can set milestones within a timeframe, to work step-for-step towards your defined goals. With a roadmap you have a clear overview of all your milestones and goals that have been set. It is possible to quantify sustainable innovation and quality by establishing roadmaps. A roadmap is started by establishing a ‘defined use period’ for the project. The defined use period is an estimated date when the goals will be achieved and the project will be renewed, replaced or recovered. Preferably, this can be 5 or 10 years, depending on the scope of the project. A 5 or 10 year timeframe is selected because it is manageable, allowing you to see the results of your work. This information, including the defined goals, desired results, measurable units and defined use period, forms the framework for the roadmap. After you finalized your roadmaps, we advise you to determine the outcomes of your project at an organizational level. The results of your project and the contribution to the organizations’ mission and vision can be summarized in a well defined goal setting document. The aim of this document is to describe how the principles of sustainable innovation and The Natural Step are anchored in the development of your project and imposes a connection between earlier adopted documents and the mission, vision and ambitions of the organization. This idea contributes to the ambition of Eindhoven to become, step-by-step, a sustainable city. Beside, this idea fits within the approach of The Natural Step. Beside, this idea fits seamlessly in the preliminary scope. ^ Type of idea|service| ^ Category of idea|work flow| ^ Enabling conditions|The process to work towards the roadmaps is in close consultation with the client and possibly member of the project / design team. We assume a proactive attitude of all partners to come up with a good result. Beside, we need the necessary documents for the analysis of the current situation and the expected situation.| ===== Stage of development===== Proven innovation: it has been used in practice on a small scale. ===== Substantiation stage of development===== C2C ExpoLAB works with the roadmap systematic since 2009 in different projects. In 2007, Venlo decided to build a new city hall as a state-of-the-art example of Cradle to Cradle design. However, at that time it was unclear how to translate the Cradle to Cradle ambition into practice. The roadmap approach helped the project and design team to focus on doing the right things and gave energy to make it happen. In cooperation with the project team were five key theme’s defined. Case studies that worked with the roadmap approach vary from interiors, buildings and even whole area developments. ===== Provability contribution to sustainability===== Proven contribution to sustainability; this has been shown in practice. ===== Step in the right direction===== Realizing all sustainability ambitions of Eindhoven is a step-by-step development. Roadmaps helps the project to work towards these goals and give the project the guidance to focus on the right things! When decissions are continuously controled based on the roadmaps, this make sure that the project develops in the right direction towards the project ambitions. ===== Flexible idea===== This idea fits seamless in the flexible approach of the project Slim Verduurzamen Gemeentegebouwen. Continuous quality improvement is essential, so we can quickly response to developments in the market. With an eco-effective approach, we strive to a positive footprint, rather than to reduce our negative impact we inflict. ===== Good investment===== A good example is the new City Hall Venlo. This project is a perfect example of how a well-executed approach of sustainable innovation can also make a significant positive difference to the financial bottom line. Over the time period of 40 years, the Venlo municipality will have realized a return on investment of around 17 million euro. Because we worked with the roadmap system from the beginning, we were able to focus on the good things. Materials, solutions and services that will be implemented contribute directly to the roadmaps, project goals and desired results. Becase we translate the ambitions into measurable goals, we are able to measure the progress in time. From measure to know, towards measuring to develop! ===== Comments===== C2C ExpoLAB is involved in the INTERREG IV-B program C2C BIZZ. The leading knowedge platform C2C-Centre is developed by C2C ExpoLAB as an investment of the project C2C BIZZ. Based on the information on the platform, we can make use of the knowledge and experiences. The project workspace creates a Goal Setting Document automatically, based on your input.
